FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Thanksgiving is just two days away and if you need still a dessert idea, look no further!

Grace Kelley May with GK Baked Goods showed our Kayla Stewart and Nick Marusiak how to make Dutch apple pie. If you want to make it yourself, Grace shared the recipe with us.

GK Dutch Apple Pie recipe (1 pie):

  • 5 1/2c apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 TBSP lemon juice
  • 1/2c sugar
  • 1/4c brown sugar
  • 3 TBSP all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
    • Topping:
      • 3/4c all purpose flour
      • 1/4c sugar
      • 1/4c brown sugar
      • 1/3c butter, chilled and cut into cubes
      • 1/4c rolled oats
      • 1/2 tsp salt
      • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
      • 1/8 tsp nutmeg

Method:

In a bowl combine apples, lemon juice, sugar, brown sugar, flour, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir until all ingredients are combined and evenly distributed. Pour into a prepared pie crust.

For the topping combine all ingredients into a bowl and cut in butter until the butter is pea sized and the mixture is crumbly. Pour the entire crumble topping over the apples and bake in a oven at 350 for 40 minutes or until the pie is a beautiful golden brown and the juices are thick and bubbling. Let cool and enjoy!
