Woodlan’s Cobb to retire after the girls basketball season

WOODBURN, Ind. (WPTA) - Woodlan girls basketball coach Gary Cobb told ABC21 on Thursday night the he plans to retire after the upcoming season.

Cobb said that he and his family decided the time was right, after 40 seasons of coaching the sport.

Cobb eclipsed 400 career wins during the 2018-19 season.

Cobb has led Woodlan’s program since 2014, and had previously coached high school basketball at New Haven.

Prior to that, he served as Indiana Tech’s women’s basketball head coach from 1989-2004. Cobb won 301 games with the Warriors, and earned two trips to the NAIA Division II National Championships.

Indiana Tech inducted Cobb into its Hall of Fame in 2018.
