CINCINNATI (WPTA) - Fort Wayne’s Jessie Bates III has officially signed his franchise tender with the Bengals, and rejoined the team at training camp.

Bates, a former Snider star, will earn a salary of $12.9 million for the upcoming season, after the Bengals used the franchise tag on him back in March.

Cincinnati selected Bates in the second round of the 2018 draft. He served as a team captain in 2021, and had two interceptions during the Bengals postseason run, including one in Super Bowl LVI.

Bates and the Bengals have not worked out a long-term contract, and right now he’s set to become a free agent after the 2022 season.
