FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - With Indiana’s near-total ban on abortion taking effect in September, it’s helpful to know how babies are made in the first place. But the state doesn’t require schools to teach such lessons to their students.

As Chalkbeat’s Aleksandra Appleton first reported, schools are only required to teach about HIV and AIDS. Is it time to develop a more assertive sex education curriculum? Some educators and advocates say yes.

ABC21′s Tom Powell talked with Ms. Appleton about her article and the conversations happening across the state.
