Crossing guards needed for FWCS, City says

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is looking for applicants as the area’s largest school system is in need of crossing guards with students set to return to school this week.

FWPD says there are currently seven crossing guards needed for FWCS. They say applicants must be at least 18, have transportation, and must pass a background test and drug test. Interested applicants can submit an application online here. The City says positions start at $13.73 an hour.

FWCS students are set to begin the 2022-2023 school year Wednesday, Aug. 10. The school system says crossing guard openings are for the following areas:

  • E. State/Laverne
  • Tyler/W.State
  • Cornell Circle/Radial Ln
  • Fairfield/Sherwood
  • 1000/1001 E. Cook Rd.
  • Wells/Third
  • Maplecrest/Monarch
