FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The heat index creeped into the mid 90s Saturday as the heat and humidity continue to build, and it will feel near 100° on Sunday.

A few stray showers are possible early Saturday evening, primarily south of Fort Wayne. Otherwise, we stay partly cloudy but warm and muggy. Lows will only fall to the mid 70s.

With us starting on such a warm and muggy note, it won’t take much for us to warm up. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 80s by noon and into the upper 80s to low 90s by the afternoon. The heat index will be in the mid to upper 90s for most of the day. Have a way to stay cool and hydrated!

The heat and humidity will make way for shower and storm chances in the afternoon and early evening. Storms that do develop won’t be able to get very organized, so severe weather is not expected.

It stays muggy and hot Monday, with more widespread showers and storms through the day. Cooler air then pushes in for the remainder of the week, causing highs to drop to the upper 70s to low 80s. No major rain chances are expected after Tuesday.
