Super Shot plans back-to-school immunization events
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Super Shot is hosting three back-to-school immunization events this month in partnership with the Indiana Department of Health.
The “Start Smart” campaign is aimed to help Hoosier families easily access the required and recommended school immunizations ahead of the upcoming school year. Officials say families will not be charged but should provide insurance information if available.
The back-to-school vaccination events at Super Shot are as follows:
- Thursday, July 14, from 4-7 p.m at Super Shot, 1515 Hobson Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46805
- Monday, July 18, from 3-7 p.m. at New Hope Christian Center, 900 S. Wayne St. Waterloo, IN 46793
- Thursday, July 28 from 4-7 p.m. at Super Shot, 1515 Hobson Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46805
Super Shot officials say at the July 14 event, free food will be provided and backpacks with school supplies will be given to the first 100 kids who sign up by calling 260-424-SHOT (7468).
“With the school year right around the corner, it’s important for parents and caregivers to get the vaccinations that school-age children need to begin school next month,” Executive Director of Super Shot Connie Heflin said. “Vaccination coverage for children has declined 10% over the last two years, and the preventative shots are critical to the health of your children and their classrooms. We are proud to support the State’s “Start Smart” campaign to get children caught back up on immunizations.”
Super Shot provides access to vaccinations including COVID-19, chickenpox, measles, mumps, tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough). For more information, please call (260) 424-SHOT (7468) or view the Super Shot clinic schedules at supershot.org.
