TinCaps draw bases loaded walk for walk-off win in game one, go on to sweep doubleheader against Lake County

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The TinCaps entered the final inning of game one of their doubleheader against Lake County without a single hit. With two outs, Corey Rosier broke it up with an infield single, which advanced Lucas Dunn to second base, who got on via a walk. Jaryd Dale then stepped to the plate and drove in Dunn with an RBI base hit to right, 2-1 game. Rosier now standing on third base, would score on a passed ball, knotting the game at 2-2.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Matthew Acosta drew a bases loaded walk to complete the comeback. It was Fort Wayne’s first walk-off win of the year, 3-2.


The TinCaps continued the momentum into game two, scoring four runs in the second inning. Jack Stronach hit a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0. Matthew Acosta then once again came up with the bases loaded, but this time, cleared the bases with a double to right center, making it 4-0.

Lake County responded with two runs in the third, but Jack Stronach drilled an RBI double in the fourth, then Cole Cummings hit a solo home run in the sixth to make it 6-2. The bullpen then closed things out, giving Fort Wayne the sweep.

The TinCaps and Captains close out their series on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
