FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash Wednesday, just after 10:30 p.m., in the area of North Clinton Street and East Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne Police (FWPD) said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the motorcyclist lying in the 5500 block of North Clinton Street, a statement from the FWPD said. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition and was then downgraded by a physician to life-threatening condition.

Investigators believe the motorcyclist was going south on North Clinton Street, when a passenger car going north on North Clinton Street, failed to yield the right of way and turned left in front of the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the car and a front seat passenger were not injured.
