Robert Gasser and some timely hitting lead the TinCaps to a 4-2 win over West Michigan
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The TinCaps were relying on the left arm of Robert Gasser to break their three-game losing skid, and the Padres No. 8 prospect delivered. Gasser threw six scoreless innings and struck out five to help lead Fort Wayne to a 4-2 win over West Michigan on Saturday night.
The offense delivered when needed as well. Corey Rosier’s bases loaded two-rbi single gave the TinCaps a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. Jaryd Dale then followed that up with a rbi single to extend the lead to 3-0.
Things got interesting in the bottom of the ninth with the TinCaps leading 4-1, when the Whitecaps loaded the bases for their best hitter, Jake Holton. Ethan Routzahn got Holton to roll over into an unassisted double play from Jaryd Dale. Routzahn then shut the door by getting Josh Crouch to pop out to Dale.
The TinCaps and Whitecaps close out their series in West Michigan on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
