Ind. (WPTA) - The Indiana State Police say the holiday weekend is off to a deadly start after two fatal crashes were reported Thursday.

Officers say they responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Road 15 near Wabash County Road 950 South around 5:55 p.m. 68-year-old Daniel Kellogg was driving southbound on State Road 15 when he rear-ended a car driven by a 53-year-old woman multiple times, ISP says. Police say it caused the woman to drive off the road and into an embankment.

Kellogg continued to drive off when he left the roadway and rolled multiple times near County Road 950 South. Kellogg was pronounced dead at the scene, and police believe he had a medical issue prior to the crash. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Later that night around 10:14 p.m., police say they responded to a second two-vehicle crash on State Road 28 near North New Harmony Street, Elwood. Police say 32-year-old Seth Young crossed the center line of State Road 28 for an unknown reason when he crashed, nearly head-on, into a semi-tractor.

Young was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-tractor drive was not injured. ISP says the cause of both crashes remains under investigation at this time.
