ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - Workers from the Allen County Highway Department have fanned out across the neighborhoods hardest hit by the recent derecho.

Crews are making the rounds outside Fort Wayne city limits, collecting debris set in front of homes--as pictured above in the Chestnut Hills subdivision.

The county announced on June 17 that pick-up requests are being accepted through at least July 8. If you need a collection and you live in Aboite, Lafayette, Pleasant, or Marion Center townships, call the highway department’s south barn at 260-449-4791 to make the request.

Residents in the Eel River and Lake townships can call the north barn at 449-4781. The requests should be for yard waste only, household waste will not be collected.
