FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The weekend featured mild and pleasant weather, but temperatures return to the 90s for the work week.

Despite southerly winds, temperatures stay mild and the air stays dry for tonight. Lows fall to the mid to upper 50s and skies stay clear.

The heat builds in through the day Monday. By the late afternoon and evening hours, temperatures will top out near 90°. If there’s any silver lining, the humidity should hold off until Wednesday evening, meaning it won’t feel too muggy or uncomfortable. Mostly sunny skies are expected.

Tuesday will be the hottest day of the week, which is why we’ve issued a First Alert Weather Day. Temperatures soar to the upper 90s, partially thanks to lower humidity than last week. This will mean that the heat index will likely be lower than last week, in the upper 90s to low triple digits.

Highs remain in the mid 90s Wednesday. A cold front approaches, meaning we’ll see chances for a few showers and storms. It’ll also be a bit more humid.

There’s a bit more uncertainty in the temperature forecast for the end of the week. A cold front will stall out over the region, which will keep temperatures around the 90° mark. More rain chances are possible heading into next weekend, but there’s still a fair amount of uncertainty. Stay tuned!
