DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department says no one was injured after a semi caught fire while driving in Spencerville.

The department says crews responded to the 6700 block of CR 55 in Spencerville for a reported semi fire. They say the driver of the semi said while he was traveling southbound, he noticed flames starting to come from underneath the hood of his semi.

He said he then pulled over and attempted to put the flames out with a fire extinguisher but was not successful.

Once first responders arrived, they say the semi was fully engulfed. Crews were able to put it out and said the semi sustained heavy fire damage to the entire cab and was a total loss. The trailer did not sustain any damage and the driver was not injured.
