FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - High temperatures plunge into the upper 70s to low 80s this weekend before returning to the mid 90s next week.

A cold front moved through last night, finally bringing an end to the heat and humidity. Tonight, northwesterly winds will only ramp up, bringing in cooler and drier air. Temperatures fall to the mid 50s under clear skies. Winds could gust near 30 mph at times.

Saturday will be quite mild and comfortable. Humidity levels will be very low, with dew points in the 40s, meaning it will feel refreshing outside. Highs only rise to the upper 70s, and skies should stay sunny.

A bit more cloud cover is possible Sunday. Highs will be closer to the 80° mark as some light southerly winds return. Humidity levels should still be pretty low.

The heat returns by the work week. Temperatures will be in the 90s pretty much all week long. Tuesday will be particularly hot, which is why we’ve issued another First Alert Day. Highs could rise to the mid to upper 90s and the heat index could once again enter the triple digits.

If there’s any silver lining to next week’s heat, humidity levels don’t look quite as high as this past week, meaning it shouldn’t feel as miserable outside. The week ahead also looks pretty dry, with a few storms possible on Wednesday.
