Carroll’s Melton finishes third in boys golf state finals, Hicks and Hoskins place in top ten

CARMEL, Ind. (WPTA) - A few golfers from Northeast Indiana had impressive performances this week at the Boys Golf State Finals in Carmel.

Hunter Melton finished his two rounds one shot off the lead, with a one-under 143. He’d finish tied for third with New Castle’s Derek Tabor.

Leo’s Justin Hicks and Warsaw’s Callen Hoskins both shot two-over, finishing tied for seventh in the field.

Valparaiso’s Aidan Gutierrez won the individual title, after defeating Cathedral’s Ryan Ford in a playoff.

Guerin Catholic took the team title, beating Westfield by a single stroke. Warsaw finished eighth, one shot ahead of ninth-place Leo.
