NACS superintendent proposal: Three years, $189.5k salary plus stipends
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A proposed contract for the next superintendent at Northwest Allen County Schools calls for a three-year term of employment at a starting base pay of $189,500 per year.
The district’s Board of Trustees will take public input on that contract at a meeting scheduled for May 31 at 6 p.m., as it narrows in on a successor to retiring Superintendent Chris Himsel. NACS officials have indicated that Mishawaka Superintendent Wayne Barker is in line to receive an offer, which would bring him back to the district where he worked as a teacher earlier in his career.
The proposed contract -- made public on Wednesday -- sets a start date of July 1, 2022, and continues through June 30, 2025, though NACS and the employee would have points at which they could “opt out” of the agreement.
In addition to the annual salary, the contract includes:
- Up to $10,000 for moving expenses
- $850 per month as an automobile allowance
- $936 annually as a reimbursement for cell phone costs
- Comprehensive insurance and retirement benefits
The superintendent would be eligible for annual performance bonuses of $7,500 starting in 2023.
A vote on the contract could come at a Board meeting on June 7.
