Huntington, Ind. (WPTA) - Last Friday, a fire badly damaged the Pizza Junction restaurant in Huntington. But the owners say the restaurant isn’t going anywhere.

The fire, smoke, and water damage is bad enough that the building will need completely redone. The owners say they’d like the building to keep its historic charm, and they think it’ll take at least a year to be rebuilt.

Owner Austin Dettling was at home when he got the call from the restaurant’s manager. He says he broke down as he smelled smoke on the way there.

Several employees have worked at Pizza Junction for their entire lives. Dettling says the community has rallied around the family and the restaurant, and a GoFundMe has been set up to help those employees that rely on tips.

Dettling is hopeful that the original timber from the depot will be able to be preserved when the restaurant is rebuilt. If you’d like to help the employees and reconstruction of Pizza Junction, access the GoFundMe here.
