FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The heat of the past week finally made way for showers and storms this afternoon, and more are in the forecast Sunday night.

Showers and storms should wrap up by sunset at the latest Saturday night. The rest of the overnight hours should be dry and partly cloudy. Temperatures fall to the mid to upper 50s.

Sunday starts out sunny. Temperatures rise to the upper 70s to low 80s by noon. Conditions should stay dry until the late afternoon or early evening hours when a cold front approaches the region. As the front approaches, chances for showers and storms will increase. More widespread showers and storms are likely when the front passes, which will be late Sunday night or into the overnight hours (10PM to 2AM).

Conditions dry out by early next week. Behind the rain, cooler air moves in, with highs settling in the low 70s. More rain is possible midweek. After those showers, summerlike air returns, with highs on track to be back in the 80s by next weekend.
