SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WPTA) - The TinCaps did strike first on Friday night, but the Cubs struck much, much more often.

South Bend’s offense had a massive night, racking up 21 hits in an 11-2 win over Fort Wayne.

Robert Hassell III provided both TinCap runs on a homer in the top of the first inning, his sixth of the season.

South Bend scored two runs in the bottom of the first to tie it, and pulled in front on an RBI single from Fabian Pertuz in the third.

The Cubs kept building on that lead, with Yohendrick Pinango leading the way. Pinango provided a two-run homer in the sixth inning, then a grand slam in the seventh.

The TinCaps and Cubs play again on Saturday at 4:05pm.
