Scattered weekend showers and thunderstorms
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - After a calm week of weather, classic mid-spring thunderstorms will fire up over the weekend, making and keeping any outdoor plans a bit tenuous.
Tonight will be dry with mostly clear skies and lows near 60º.
Saturday will start with abundant sunshine with highs rapidly warming into the 70s through the morning, but clouds will increase after about 1 pm as a nearby cold front fires off a few scattered showers and thunderstorms from 2 to about 8 pm. None of these storms are expected to be severe, but some could feature brief gusty wind, torrential downpours, and small hail.
Sunday’s storm chances are a little more uncertain, as we will have a bit less moisture to work with. Nonetheless, after about 1 pm (much like Saturday) through about 8 pm is the highest chance for shower/thunderstorm activity. The severe threat also looks low through Sunday evening.
