WASHINGTON, (WPTA) - The first draft of a supreme Court decision suggests the high court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, the groundbreaking case that legalized abortion.

The reporting was based on a leaked draft dated February 10, 2022. The leak hints and a monumental legal decision, while exposing a gaping hole in the traditional secrecy of Supreme Court deliberations.

It’s unclear if the draft represents the court’s final word on the matter. The news outlet published what was labeled as a “1st Draft” of the “Opinion of the Court” in a case challenging Mississippi’s ban on abortion after 15 weeks.

Republican lawmakers in Indiana had previously asked Governor Eric Holcomb to call the legislature into session this summer should such a ruling come down. Republicans have expressed a desire to draft anti-abortion legislation that would ban or restrict the availability of the procedure in the state. Holcomb has not said publicly if he would indeed call lawmakers back into session.
