FWCS students sign beam for new creative space at Electric Works
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne Community School students with the inaugural class at Amp Lab, along with staff members and school leaders, participated in a beam signing Tuesday.
“It was really nice to come here and look at the building itself that I’ll be coming to as a senior,” North Side Student Javion Walker said.
The lab, inside Electric Works, is scheduled to open in August. Officials say the lab will be a place where students can create new ideas and connect with business tenants in the complex.
“To know that we’re almost to that finish line to know that 400 students will be in this building all day everyday working on real problems, working on real community problems, a day like today gets me excited,” Amp Lab at Electric Works Director Riley Johnson said.
The students etched their names on the beam that will be on display on the grounds of Electric Works.
