FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A Fort Wayne man is dead after a crash Friday morning.

Christopher Lynn Daugherty, 51, was identified by the Allen County Coroner’s office as the victim in the fatal personal injury crash. Daugherty died from multiple blunt force injuries, the coroner’s office ruled, after an autopsy. Daugherty’s manner of death has been ruled an accident by the coroner’s office.

It happened around 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard. When Fort Wayne police officers arrived, they found Daugherty lying on the west side of Coliseum Boulevard. Paramedics pronounced Daugherty dead at the scene, police said.

Witnesses told police that Daugherty was running west on Coliseum when he crossed the street. One vehicle swerved and missed Daugherty, while a second vehicle struck him, police said. Police say the driver cooperated with investigators.

Southbound traffic on Coliseum Boulevard was closed for about two hours while police investigated the scene.

Daugherty is the 11th fatal traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2022.
