ABC21 Adds Tony Betton Jr. to Weekday Morning Team
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - WPTA-TV announces that weekend morning anchor, Tony Betton Jr., will join Kayla Stewart and Meteorologist Nick Marusiak this month as co-anchor of ABC21 Morning News, airing daily from 4:30 until 7 a.m. Betton assumes the new role after two years anchoring the station’s top-rated Saturday and Sunday morning newscasts.
In addition to his anchor responsibilities, Betton will continue to host ABC21′s weekly “Grant Me Hope” reports, which focus on area foster children who are seeking a permanent home, and the station’s Young Entrepreneur” segments, which are produced in a partnership with Junior Achievement.
“This is an exciting time for WPTA, and I’m honored to contribute to the important work that we do as local journalists,” Betton said. “I look forward to waking up weekday mornings with everyone in 21Country.” Betton will succeed Samantha Myers, whose final broadcast is set for Feb. 11.
