FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne International Airport has only picked up one and a half inches of snow since December 1st. That’s almost ten inches below normal.

George Bourounis, who owns All Lawn Care Service, says it’s been a tough year. That seems to be a pattern.

Of the last ten years, only one winter season brought above-average snowfall. That means some who rely on snow for business have had to find other work.

Bourounis says this year he’s had to park plows and cut off some employees. Bourounis himself has been working in a factory and plans to work there for the next two months. In fact, this season, Bourounis says his trucks have only had to plow one time.

Bigger operations like the Indiana Department of Transportation say the lack of snow doesn’t have such an effect. But for small businesses like Bourounis’, budgeting and planning is key.

As for whether snow will arrive to bring relief to struggling snow removal businesses, only time will tell.
