FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Campus safety authorities say they now have one person in custody after warning of a “dangerous situation” on the campus Monday night.

In a tweet from the @IUPD_Btown account just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, officials said the situation at Indiana Memorial Union ended “without injury”. It also said one person is in custody, but police would stay on the scene for further investigation.

It all started around 9 p.m. Monday, a tweet from the @ProtectIU account told people to avoid the area around Indiana Memorial Union. That building serves as the student union on campus and houses meeting spaces, cafes, offices, and a hotel.

Shortly after 10:00 pm, IU emergency management officials confirmed a person was barricaded inside a room at the IMU hotel. They said police officers were in communication with that person.

Updates will come as we learn more.
