FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The greatest player to ever wear a Fort Wayne Komets uniform, Len Thornson, passed away on Sunday at the age of 88.

Thornson won seven IHL MVP’s and three scoring titles in thirteen seasons. He holds the Komet records for career points in both the regular season and the playoffs. While most players leave the area after their playing careers are over, Len continued to call Fort Wayne home. He remained heavily involved with the Komets and became a very successful insurance agent.

The Komets plan to honor Thornson with a video tribute before this Friday night’s game vs Kalamazoo.
