Adams Central loses back-and-forth state championship game to Indianapolis Lutheran

INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA) - A memorable year for Adams Central football ended with a 34-28 loss to Indianpolis Lutheran in the 1A state championship.

The Flying Jets got off to a terrific start, including a 59 yard punt return touchdown for Nick Neuenschwander. Adams Central led by 21-7 midway through the second quarter.

The Saints would then rally for 21 unanswered points, leading 28-21 in the fourth.

Adams Central tied the game up on Blake Heyerly’s third rushing touchdown of the afternoon. making it 28-28.

Lutheran quarterback Montasi Clay scored the go-ahead 12-yard touchdown with 1:13 left in the fourth.

After the game, Heyerly was named this year’s Blake Ress Mental Attitude Award winner for 1A football.
