FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Volunteers at the St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen in Fort Wayne are expected to pass out as many as 1,000 Thanksgiving meals this holiday -- but is providing them “to go” only, due to COVID-19 concerns.

Pick-up is available Thursday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and anyone is welcome to come by.

“One of the beautiful thing about the soup kitchen here is, when these people come in and get their soup on any basis, they’re not asked for identification, they’re not asked for residency,” Patrick McBride, who chairs the dinner-prep effort, said. “It’s no embarrassment. You’re here because you need some food, and we’re here to give you food.”

The St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen is located at 1101 Lafayette St. The phone number is (260) 426-1217.
