FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Fort Wayne Police Department says they have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a car theft from a downtown gas station that had a child inside.

Police say Monday evening, someone stole a car from the Phillips 66 station at Washington Blvd. that had an 8-month-old child in the back seat. Within 30 minutes, police got a tip from employees at a gas station on Sherman Boulevard near West State, saying someone had hastily placed a car seat carrying a baby near the building before fleeing again. The parents were promptly reunited with the baby, who was unharmed.

On Wednesday, FWPD said they arrested Linzey D. Woods, 20, as a person of interest after they say he was found running away from the stolen car in the area of North Harrison and West Fourth Street.

He was arrested on an active arrest warrant of non-compliance and criminal trespass and was interviewed by FWPD Detectives. The investigation is ongoing at the time of this report.
