Shooting on Southeast side leaves person seriously injured

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A teenager is in serious condition after a shooting Monday night at a southeast Fort Wayne apartment complex, according to police.

Police were called around 5:27 p.m. to an apartment at the Waterloo Gardens Apartments in the 2900 block of Bunt Drive. Officers and paramedics found a 16-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was listed with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators say someone knocked on an apartment door and when the victim answered, he was shot before the suspect or suspects ran away.

A K-9 officer is attempting to locate the suspect. It is not known how many suspects there were and there is no suspect description, said police. Investigators are on the scene talking to potential witnesses and collecting evidence.

Police say right now there is no suspect information and no arrests have been made.
