Fort Wayne woman asks for help finding son’s killer in 14-year-old cold case
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A Fort Wayne woman is asking for your help to find the person responsible for killing her son in a 2007 case that has gone cold.
Lucretia Henderson says she and her family have are still grieving her son, Lee Andrews Wells, who was killed just a month before his 21st birthday.
“I want justice for him and I want closure for me,” Henderson said. “It hurts because the holidays are come by, he’s not here, his birthday comes by, he’s not here. His children’s birthday comes up, they don’t even know him, they just have pictures of him.”
In May 2007, someone drove by and shot Lee to death in the area of Hessen Cassel Road. That person left the scene and left the family with heartbreak.
One of Lee’s two children was born after his death, the other one is too young to remember him.
“On the 17th of May of 2007, they pulled the plug on him,” Henderson said. “There was nothing we could do... they pulled the plug.”
Years later, Henderson has grown frustrated with a lack on information. However, there have been some clues to what happened that night. Henderson says investigators told her about a man who’s in jail who Henderson believes has information.
“They’re not telling me anything,” Henderson said. “I just want them to tell me because it will help.”
We reached out to detectives, but they haven’t yet given us any information on this case. Henderson is hopeful that one day there will be closure.
“I want to know what happened to him,” Henderson said. “Why was he shot? I just don’t know.”
Henderson asks anyone with information to reach out to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
