WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - A special prosecutor from outside Whitley County has formally accepted a case focused on alleged student misconduct at a Churubusco middle school.

As ABC21 previously reported, Whitley County Prosecutor D.J. Sigler recused himself from the matter, due to his relationships with certain parties close to the case. He identified Huntington County Prosecutor Jeremy Nix as the person likely to take over.

Nix has since accepted and is now reviewing the allegations against several students. The Smith-Green Community Schools system has acknowledged that bullying took place, but it will be up to Nix to determine if any criminal charges are warranted. The matter involves allegations that several students had been urinated on and possibly sexually assaulted.
