FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne Police say two subjects are in custody after police had to barricade an apartment early this morning.

Police say they responded to reports of battery in the 3400 block of Cheviot around 1 a.m.

They say they were told a possible suspect had weapons with him.

Officers say they tried to make contact with the subjects inside an apartment but didn’t get an answer. They could hear people yelling inside.

Fort Wayne Emergency Services Team and Crime Response Team members were called to the scene. Crisis Response called the apartment, and say they got an answer from a man inside. There was another man inside the apartment and both refused to come out. Emergency Services fired chemicals into the apartment, and both men came out immediately. Police say both men were taken into custody.

Kenneth Copeland Sr. is charged with false reporting, and Kenneth Copeland Jr. was taken to Police Headquarters for questioning. Police say he could be charged, too.
