FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The man who police believe is responsible in the slayings of a mother and her three children has pleaded not guilty to the crime.

Cohen Hancz-Barron, 21, appeared in court Thursday to face four counts of murder in the deaths of three young children and their mother.

Sarah Zent, 26, and 5-year-old Carter Zent, 3-year-old Ashton Zent, and 2-year-old Aubree Zent were found dead in a home in the 2900 block of Gay Street on the morning of June 2.

After a manhunt, authorities found Hancz-Barron and charged him in their deaths.

Hancz-Barron entered a preliminary plea of not guilty in court Friday, and also asked for a public defender.

He will be back in court on June 23 for another hearing.
