SUN PRAIRIE, WI (WKOW) -- The office of American Family Insurance Agent, Larry Cutler, was part of the chain of buildings destroyed in yesterday's gas line explosion in Sun Prairie.
Larry says he had been in that particular office for only two years, but held office space in several different locations on Main Street for the past 45 years. He is temporarily working out of leased office space owned by American Family on American Parkway in Madison.
"I was at a loss last night. I didn't know what to do and literally within hours [of the explosion] I had numerous people within American Family trying to help me get back set up again so that I could then provide help to our customers".
Larry lives in Sun Prairie, about four miles from where the explosion took place. He returned home from work around 5 o'clock yesterday, just hours before disaster struck.
"The explosion physically shook the house. It felt like something large had hit the house. Our front window actually shook". Although it's been less than 24 hours since the explosion occurred, Larry says the community of Sun Prairie has already rallied together in support of each other.
The American Family Dreams Foundation is adding to that support by donating $10,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts. Larry says American Family is in the process of getting a catastrophe unit on site, a semi truck that helps with large claims situations.
