Police in one central Indiana community are warning of a new scam that "fines" drivers for alleged traffic law violations.
The Fishers Police Department on Monday warned that they recently became aware of bogus bills being sent to motorists. The faux citations claim, "You've been detected with a speed infringement," then order payment of hundreds of dollars for the violation.
It includes a link to an unknown website.
Anyone receiving an unfamiliar email is advised to avoid clicking on embedded links, which can compromise your security.
