TinCaps shut out Loons, Gore gets first 'W' as a pro

Independence Day wasn't the only reason to celebrate at Parkview Field on Wednesday.

The TinCaps played an all-around excellent game, treating a season-high crowd of 8,805 fans to a 7-0 win.

Top prospect MacKenzie Gore picked up the first win of his professional career, going a season high six innings, giving up just four hits and two walks, with six strikeouts.

Ben Scheckler and Fred Schlichtholz took over after that, securing the shutout victory.

Robbie Podorsky had the biggest hit early on, with a three-run triple as part of a four-run second inning. Justin Lopez belted a solo home run in the third, giving the pitching staff more than enough run support.

The victory pushes the TinCaps to 42-41 on the season. It's the first time they've risen above .500 all season.
