A Fort Wayne man will spend the next decade behind bars after robbing a Dollar General store in Leo.
ABC21 previously reported the robbery happened in January 2016. Court documents state this is not the first time Latwon Ford robbed the Leo Dollar General store. According to documents in the case, Ford also robbed the Dollar General store in Leo, Indiana, in June of 2015.
During the 2016 robbery, he was thwarted as someone inside the store called 911 and left the line open so dispatchers could hear what was going on. An off-duty county officer and two on-duty deputies were nearby and met Ford as he tried to leave the store.
Ford was sentenced Monday for two counts of obstructing and interfering with interstate commerce by robbery and for brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. He was sentenced to a total of 135 months of imprisonment followed by 2 years of supervised release.
