Several members of the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters helped build a home Wednesday morning.
The women of the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters participated in the build alongside construction professionals, volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. The build was a part of the women's build.
One of the participants, Chris Mounsey, said firefighting and construction both require teamwork. She says the event was a good opportunity to work with people she does not usually have the opportunity to work with on a daily basis.
"The nice part today is the women on the fire department being able together," Mounsey said. "While we all work for the same department we don't typically get to work together."
The Women's Build is a program by Habitat for Humanity to send a positive and powerful message. Participants could learn new skills or add some to their toolbelt.
