FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA 21) -

Guests at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo can see how zoo staff take care for the animals Wednesday.

The zoo is hosting an animal care day event Wednesday from 1 pm until 3 pm. During the event, people can learn how specific departments work together to care for the animals.

"It's not just the vet staff. We need the keepers," said Stacy Rhody, the Hospital Keeper for the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. "It's definitely a team effort."

The zoo will have activities for young guests to learn about animal health checks, animal nutrition and diets, meeting zoo ambassador animals, and other family-friendly animal care centered activities.

"We want our guest to get a glimpse of all that goes on behind the scenes to care for our amazing zoo animals," said Bonnie Kemp, Director of Communications for the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. "Animal Care Day is a great opportunity to highlight our incredible zoo staff and
the important work they perform here."

Animal Care Day activities are free with paid zoo admission.
