A coroner's ruling of "homicide" on Sunday advanced a criminal investigation stemming from the discovery of a body in Steuben County on Friday.
Indiana State Police said investigators were still working to determine the identity of the victim. They said that could take several weeks.
The remains were found by workers at the Trine State Recreation Area off Feather Valley Road Friday morning.
It was not known how long the body had been there.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by ISP, the Indiana Conservation Officers and the Steuben County Coroner's Office.
