ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA 21) - A Fort Wayne man charged with murder pleaded down to a lesser charge Friday morning. During his change of plea hearing, Derek Ford plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter, a level 2 felony. The plea agreement was for 17.5 years imprisonment.
Ford is one of three men accused in the 2016 shooting death of Robert Moore on Avondale Drive.
Moore's family says the courts took this case too lightly.
"It's not enough time." Moore's daughter, Chandra Crawford said.
His family is still coming to grips to life without Moore.
"He's the type of person that brightened your day." Moore's sister, Gloria Winston said.
Days cut short by a senseless crime.
"I feel like I got justice, but not the justice I wanted. I wanted him to get more time, because this is a life taken from us."
