A Wolcottville man faces preliminary charges after allegedly leading police on a chase Friday evening.
The LaGrange County Sheriff's Department said the chase began after a deputy pulled over a black GMC Acadia on 700 S west of 500 E for a traffic violation. Police say at some point during the stop, the driver sped away from the deputy.
The pursuit went through Wolcottville and Rome City before ending on State Road 9 near 800 West in Noble County. A Rome City Police officer was able to successfully deploy stop sticks on the vehicle as the pursuit went through Rome City.
After the pursuit ended, Stephen Page Jr. was taken into custody. The department said he was found in possession of approximately 272.5 grams of suspected marijuana, a loaded .380 caliber handgun and various items of drug paraphernalia.
Page Jr. was transported to the LaGrange County Jail and preliminarily charged with felony counts of resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, dealing in marijuana, and maintaining a common nuisance. He was also preliminarily charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of paraphernalia, reckless driving, criminal recklessness, and carrying a handgun without a license.
