Local Food forum celebrates expanding local food community

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA 21) -

An event taking place Monday hopes to celebrate and strengthen connections within Northeast Indiana's expanding local food community.

The Purdue Extension Allen County and the local Food Council teamed up to host the "2018 Northeast Indiana Local Food Forum." This year's theme is "Our Lands. Our Tables." The forum will feature guest speakers from around the region to talk about expanding the local food community.

The keynote address will be followed by breakout sessions, where you'll have the opportunity to speak out on your ideas that would help strengthen the community's ties to local food sources. The Local Food Forum will conclude with an expo and social hour where attendees can sample local foods, learn more about initiatives and businesses, and mingle with local food producers, professionals and consumers.

Registration information is on the website www.NEIfood.org. Anyone with questions can call Vickie Hadley, Allen County Extension Office at (260) 481-6826 or email at hadleyv@purdue.edu.
