Fort Wayne police find overturned car, tracks leading away from crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA 21) -

Fort Wayne police responded to an overnight crash only to find nobody in the car.

The crash happened shortly after 2:00 a.m. in the 2800 block of Maysville Road by the Golden Years Retirement home. officers say they think the car hit a guardrail and a pole, before coming to rest on its top.

The pole was knocked down along with wires, and debris was scattered around the crash site, but nobody was inside the car or nearby. What police did find was footprints leading away from the crash. They followed the tracks and the found the man.

Police say the man was intoxicated. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. It is believed he was the only one in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
