FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA 21) - A devastating house fire in Frankfort, Indiana left one person dead and several injured on Monday.
The man who died? A Fort Wayne native.
Jason Trail died tragically attempting to rescue his four children, that's according to his family.
"He did what most people aren't willing to do you know he sacrificed himself for the good of his family."
Kasey Kern is his Jason's brother-in-law who lives in Fort Wayne.
He was at the hospital later that day when Jason tragically passed away.
"This isn't supposed to happen to someone whose 39. It's just not."
He says their entire family was close knit.
Jason and his wife, Vanessa, together had eight children.
Now, all of them are trying to deal with this heartbreaking loss.
"They lost everything in the house fire. It's bad enough to have a house fire and lose all your stuff, but to lose the father of your family, it's a really tough situation for them."
Family members from Fort Wayne have started a go-fund-me page to help the Trail family, since they were well known here in the Summit City.
