The Ohio trucker who was given probation time for a crash that killed a 4-year-old girl is back in court.
Gary Golay appeared in court Wednesday for a probation violation hearing. ABC21 previously reported Golay was sentenced to probation after the July 2012 fatal crash. The crash killed a girl returning home from the Fort Wayne Zoo where she was celebrating her upcoming 5th birthday.
Golay was speeding and never hit the brakes when he plowed into several cars that were stopped at a red light on U.S. 30 at Kroemer Rd.An investigation into the crash found that Golay falsified his log books and that he hadn't taken the required rest breaks in the two days before the crash.
According to terms of his probation, Golay was ordered not to possess a driver's license or drive a vehicle for a 5 year period. His probation officer says he has since discovered that Golay applied for a license and was driving a pick-up truck. Golay will be back in court on October 26th.
