The former Steuben County Sheriff has died at his Angola home.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Department said Robert Enyeart died Saturday at his Angola home. He served at the sheriff's office for 23 years as a reserve deputy before being elected sheriff from 1987-1990. He retired in September of 2000.
A celebration of life service is planned for October 28 at 1 at the Stroh Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 11-1 prior to the service.

Robert M. Enyeart, 83, died on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his home in Angola, Indiana.
He was a co-owner of Bodie Printing for 20 years. He also worked at the Steuben County Sheriff Department for 23 years. During that time he was a Sheriff’s Reserve, a Deputy and the Sheriff of Steuben County from 1987-1990. Most recently he had worked at the Angola Walmart Photo Lab for 12 years.
Robert was born on January 7,1934 in Marion, Indiana to Maxwell and Zella (Russell) Enyeart. He married Barbara A. Bodie on May 25, 1958.
He was a Charter member of the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes, Angola, Indiana; NRA and the Indiana Sheriff’s Association.
Surviving are his children, Chad (Annessa) Enyeart of Angola; Melissa (Tim) Tritch of Hudson and Michael Enyeart. Also surviving are his 6 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Russell Enyeart and sister Maxine Davidson.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service on October 28,2017 at 1:00 PM at the Stroh Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Hamm officiating.
Visitation will be from 11-1:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
